Joe Cohen is a real estate lawyer with significant experience in all aspects of transactional matters and real estate litigation in general. Joe Cohen counsels public and private companies, partnerships, property management and brokerage firms, developers, architects, and individuals in a wide variety of complex matters.
Joe is an invaluable part of the team and gives Skyline the ability to provide major value to our clients. In his role as General Counsel, Joe works closely with the senior executive team and remains actively involved in every stage of a project, frequently providing real-time project advice. Joe drafts, updates, and negotiates construction, consultant, and design contracts tailored to reflect specific objectives and the risk tolerances of the individual clients. He additionally handles all matters related to corporate compliance and document retention.
With more than two decades of experience as a problem-solver, Joe Defends and prosecutes claims for clients involved in real estate, construction, commercial law disputes and commercial and landlord/tenant matters, including defense of fair housing claims.
Joe is particularly experienced with construction litigation involving failures in building technologies and project participant claims. His work in this area includes special investigation, analysis and litigation of construction project claims involving design, engineering, means and methods, and mechanics lien issues for owners, general contractors and subcontractors.
In his traditional practice, Joe will often represent educational institutions, hospitals and healthcare research facilities, as well as real estate developers and property management companies.
Joe received his JD, with honors, from New York Law School, and received his BS in political science from New York University. He is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey.
